ALLOW ME TO TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT ME AS A BREEDER . . . . . .

"Blaizenoak Wish Upon A Star"

(Georgia is pictured at 4 months of age)

I am a select home based breeder of quality Miniature Schnazers and my aim is to breed for quality, health and temperament.

I breed all three approved colours of Miniature Schnauzer (MS) - Black, Pepper & Salt and Black & Silver but i have a real soft spot for Black & Silver Miniature Schnauzers.

I aim to breed the best quality of MS that is possible. I aim to breed dogs that will have much success in the show ring but NOT to the exclusion of good temperament and health.

I do not believe that it is sufficient to breed two 'show winning' dogs together in the hope to breed more 'show winning' puppies - other things need to be taken into consideration such as health & temperament.

I carefully select the parents of the puppies for health, compatibility of conformation (body structure), bloodlines (no close breeding of relatives) as well as the all important temperament.

I do not mate two dogs together simply because it is convenient and thus i have flown (or driven) all over Australia to use a stud dog that i think will compliment my girl more so than a local dog. More recently i have undertaken the huge committment to import dogs from oversea's.

My first import is a stunning black & silver male who is also a triple champion. 'Samum'  came all the way from Finland and arrived in February 2008. My next two imports were Asher and Caleb who arrived in 2009. Asher and Caleb are gorgeous  Pepper & Salt and Black males  both of whom carry the gene to produce Black & Silver puppies. More exciting imports are planned for the near future.

My philosophy as a breeder is to strive to be the kind of breeder that i would like to have a puppy from. I am 110% against inbreeding in any way shape or form (which is the breeding of close relatives together). The Black & Silver colour is a recessive gene which means that both parents must carry the blk/slv gene in order to produce blk/slv puppies. Due the the recessive nature of the blk/slv gene the gene pool is quite limited in Australia. I refuse to inbreed simply to maintain my black & silver breeding and so i chose to source interstate stud dogs, import dogs from overseas and use artificial insemination if necessary to ensure that i can continue breeding black & silver puppies (and indeed all colours) without resorting to inbreeding in any way, shape or form.

I endeavour to have some of my dogs independently temperament tested by a third party. This usually occurs through a formal temperament testing procedure that is mandatory for dogs to pass before they are permitted to participate in displays & demonstrations through Obedience Clubs or through the Victorian Government run  'Responsible Pet Education' and VCA approved 'Pet Therapy' Programs. As you can imagine, the testing required to approve a dog to participate in these programs is thorough and intense and i am pleased and proud to have had a number of my dogs tested and passed.

To ensure the health of my dogs and pups i annually test the eyes of all of my dogs. The original documentation is always available for viewing.

MY AIM IS TO BE THE TYPE OF BREEDER THAT I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HAVE A PUPPY FROM
