I have trained, competed with and had much success with my dogs in the obedience ring. The miniature Schnauzer is a special little dog and they need to be trained with enthusiasm, motivation and above all else- gentleness. When trained correctly, your Schnauzer will learn very quickly and blossom into a well behaved adult. i highly reccomend that you you first attend puppy pre sechool and then attend an Obedience club with your puppy. You should make the committment to dedicate the first 10 months of puppy ownership (so up to one year of age) to attending obedience school one a week, training your puppy for 10 minutes a day and taking your puppy for a daily walk (twice daily walk would be even better).
If you can commit this, you will be rewarded with a beautiful well mannered dog for the rest of its life. Any puppy can be trained and your puppy will be as good as the effort you put in. 10 months is not a big investment when the outcome is hopefully 12 plus years with a lovely, well mannered dog that you can be proud of.
I have a few free downloads available to help you on your way with your puppy training. The first two downloads are from the world renowned animal trainer Dr Ian Dunbar. I would appreciate you taking the time to read both of these downloads before you take your puppy home.

The last download is an excellent source of information on how to teach your dog good manners and basic obedience. I highly reccomend that you read and implement these methods as soon as you bring your puppy home (at 8 weeks).
